Programmes & Observances

Festivals, remembrance and resolve

Through the Saptarshi Samvat year the Kendra brings the community together, to celebrate, to remember sacrifice, and to renew the pledge to return home.

The flagship observance

Navreh Mahotsav, the Kashmiri New Year

A multi-day festival marking the Saptarshi Samvat New Year, observed across three sacred days: Tyaag & Samarpan Divas, remembering the self-sacrifice of Pandit Shriya Bhat; Sankalp Divas, when the community takes the pledge to return to its homeland; and Shaurya Divas, honouring the victory of King Lalitaditya. Youth competitions, recitations and addresses by eminent voices have marked these days across the years.
